Everyone is talking about how great iPhone and Android applications are, however not that many people have actually taken time and effort to sit down and compile a full list of why brands and companies should have an app in the first place.

The smartphone applications business is growing exponentially, although the question of weather it will ever become the next 'trillion dollar' industry is still up in the air. In a study published this week, Juniper Research have indicated the revenue from mobile applications may grow $22 billion in the next five years.

An independent research has found the market for mobile applications may increase from $6 billion today to almost $17.5 billion in 2012. This study also reported downloads of mobile apps (mobile applications) may jump to approximately 50 billion in 2012, a noticeable increase from 2009’s seven billion downloaded smarthphone apps.
