Nmap.org created an interesting visualization of the internet's most popular web destinations, by gathering the favicons of the 300,000 most popular web-sites. The popularity of the websites determined the size of the favicon. As one may expect, Google dominates the board at 11,936 x 11,936 pixels and the smallest icons are coming at 16 x 16 pixels.

A large-scale scan of the top million web sites (per Alexa traffic data) was performed in early 2010 using the Nmap Security Scannerand its scripting engine.
